In terms of nutritional value, crabs are a great source of protein, comparable to veal. In addition, they contain vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. They have a low calorie content, making them an excellent diet food.

- Fresh crabs
- Before cooking the crabs, make sure they are thoroughly cleaned, especially if they were purchased alive. Crabs that have been prepared are usually ready to cook.
- Soaking them in a bowl for 5-10 minutes is one method of cleaning them. Then, throw away the water and repeat the process once more.
- To make steamed crabs, fill a pot with about 10 centimeters of water. Season with salt and spices to taste. Then place the crabs in a steamer or strainer on top, cover, and cook for about 15 minutes.
- It is critical that the crabs do not come into contact with the water during the steam technique. If you don't have a steamer, place a rack over the pot, add the crabs, and cover with another pot arranged upside down on top.
- Boiling crabs is another method of cooking them. Bring a pot with enough water to cover all of the crabs. Turn on the heat and add the salt.
- Wait for the water to come to a boil if the crabs are frozen. Cook the crustaceans for 15 to 20 minutes, depending on their size.
- After cooking the crabs in either of the two methods, it is best to immerse them in cold water to stop the cooking process.
When purchasing crabs, it is preferable if they are alive to ensure freshness. If you don't want to kill them, ask the manager to leave them ready to cook. However, because they decompose so quickly, they must be cooked right away.
